Paris and Friar Laurence discuss Juliet’s grief, and Paris tells the Friar that they are to be married this coming Thursday. The Friar stalls. Juliet enters, and Paris reminds her of their upcoming wedding. Juliet answers non-committally, letting Paris believe whatever he likes. After Paris leaves, Juliet reaches out to the Friar, desperate for a solution to her problem. She tells him she will kill herself if there’s no answer. The Friar suggests that she take a potion that will make her seem dead, and while she’s asleep in her tomb, he will get Romeo to come from Mantua and rescue her.
