Summary

Juliet wishes the day would pass quickly, so she can be with Romeo on their wedding night. Her Nurse enters, and gives her the bad news that Romeo has killed Tybalt (Juliet’s cousin). Juliet is torn between loyalty to her new husband and loyalty to her cousin. The Nurse then gives Juliet the worst news of all — that Romeo is banished. Juliet weeps over this news, and wishes she were dead if she cannot have her wedding night with Romeo. The Nurse tells Juliet that Romeo is, for now, safe at Friar Laurence’s cell.
